We are looking for a Software Engineer II to join our Enrollment team, which owns the technology moving a prospective member from initial interest all the way through eligibility, plan selection, and activation as an enrolled participant.
Great software is the key to providing effective care at scale. As a Software Engineer II, you will work with empathy for your coworkers, stakeholders, and users. You will be excited to work cross-functionally with a variety of people and ideas. You will work directly with stakeholders to design solutions and drive the technical decisions for delivery.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement a blend of proprietary and third-party tools that power our member enrollment funnel , eligibility verification, plan/benefit matching, signup, and activation.
- Contribute to the delivery of high-quality web application code, maintaining site stability through code reviews and writing unit and integration tests.
- Spend the majority of your time on hands-on coding, with opportunities to learn from and collaborate with more experienced engineers.
- Work in an agentic coding workflow as a standard part of daily development , directing tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot to plan, implement, test, and review changes.
- Contribute your ideas and collaborate with the team to adopt new technologies.
- Participate in our on-call rotation; triage and address reliability issues that come up in the enrollment pipeline.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience writing readable, tested, and efficient code
- Experience with Ruby (preferred) or Python
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
- Experience with designing scalable, maintainable, and secure APIs
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines
- Exposure to LLMs and GenAI best practices
- Hands-on comfort directing AI coding agents
- Understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), and deployment tools (Kubernetes, Docker)
- Willingness to learn new tools, languages, workflows, and philosophies to grow
- Curiosity and care more about solving problems than being right
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills (verbal and written)
