Cloudflare is seeking a Senior Product Counsel to join the Product Counsel team. The successful candidate will serve as the frontline legal contact and help solve some of the company's thorniest issues. They will lead cross-functional projects with meaningful impact, draft and negotiate technology transactions, and provide legal advice to product, engineering, and business teams.

Responsibilities:

• Translate complex legal analysis into clear, actionable guidance for fast-moving product and engineering teams.
• Proactively assess legal risks and advise product, engineering, and business teams building services that reshape how information moves across the Internet,and the laws that govern it.
• Serve as a legal advisor to senior business leaders on the legal implications of product strategy.
• Review and architect legal frameworks for technology transactions related agreements.
• Apply privacy-by-design principles and partner with the privacy team on data-flow reviews, PIAs, and other privacy deliverables.
• Solicit invention disclosures, support patent strategy, and protect Cloudflare's trade secrets.
• Partner with product and marketing teams on product marketing collateral and claim substantiation.
• Build and refine processes that enable the Legal team to scale effectively as Cloudflare continues to expand.
• Engage externally on behalf of Cloudflare in areas where you are a subject matter expert.

Qualifications:

• JD degree with strong academic credentials and admitted to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 7+ years of law firm and/or in-house experience, preferably with technology companies.
• Technical background/expertise is highly desired.
• Ability to provide legal advice in a way that understands and advances strategic business goals.
• Experience with copyright law and Internet law is desired.
• Strong communication skills and cooperative team player.

Compensation:

• Estimated annual salary of $191,000 – $263,000 for Bay Area based hires.
• Estimated annual salary of $183,000 – $252,000 for Washington D.C. Area hires.
