Okta is looking for a Staff Fullstack Engineer to join the AI Acceleration Team. The team builds AI features at the intersection of identity and agents. The goal is to tackle challenges such as authorising agent actions and preventing phishing attacks.

As a Staff Fullstack Engineer, you will own the technical build for solving agent authorization and phishing resistance. You will shape which problems the team takes on, make architectural decisions, and set the technical bar for the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Solve core authorization challenges: Define how companies authorise agent actions and enforce least privilege for what an agent can do on a user's behalf.
  • Design secure access: Build phishing-resistant authentication and authorisation for both people and agents.
  • Shape the product: Bring a product mindset to understand customer needs, define desired outcomes, and build towards them.
  • Own the quality bar: Act as the voice for product and quality judgment, taking ownership of the outcome.
  • Drive technical architecture: Make and defend architectural decisions on distributed systems and complex API integrations.
  • Modernize development: Advance the use of AI across the development lifecycle.
  • Coach and multiply: Raise the technical bar of the entire team.
  • Improve engineering excellence: Spot and prioritise tech debt, driving improvements.

Requirements:

  • Self-starter mentality: Ability to spot what matters, drive work autonomously, and thrive in ambiguity.
  • Advanced AI tool proficiency: Apply AI meaningfully across the software development lifecycle.
  • Architectural expertise: Proven experience defining scalable backend architectures and integrating complex APIs.
  • Security fundamentals: Solid grasp of web authentication and authorisation.
  • Backend proficiency: Deep expertise in building reliable, secure, enterprise-grade software in Java or another type-safe language.
  • Frontend flexibility: High proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript with true fullstack range.
  • Cloud infrastructure knowledge: Strong cloud architecture fundamentals, with experience designing and operating large-scale services on AWS.
