Geographic Information Systems (GIS) play a crucial role in Georgia Power's strategic initiatives, technological advancements, and daily operations. As a GIS Specialist II, III, or Senior, you will be part of the Geographic Solutions and Services (GSS) organization, responsible for inputting, processing, and maintaining distribution data according to departmental procedures and Southern Company's GIS Data strategy.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating engineering construction prints using Esri mapping applications
  • Ensuring timely and accurate posting of GIS changes
  • Adhering to mapping standards, including offsets, annotation, and symbology
  • Participating in storm restoration activities
  • Validating GIS model connectivity and resolving connectivity issues
  • Performing quality control and data validation activities
  • Demonstrating ownership of assigned work and troubleshooting problems
  • Providing basic GIS application support to users

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Basic GIS knowledge
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of utility systems (electrical systems are a plus)
  • Ability to perform basic spatial queries and research customer information
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to contribute to a positive team environment and build effective relationships

Education requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, with an associate's degree or certificate in GIS preferred and a bachelor's degree in GIS, geography, or a STEM field being advantageous.
