Ford's Electric Vehicles, Digital and Design (EVDD) team is seeking a Senior Aerodynamics Engineer to contribute to the development of groundbreaking electric vehicles.
As a Senior Aerodynamics Engineer, you will be responsible for creating aerodynamically efficient designs, working with cross-functional partners to improve aerodynamic performance, and redefining what is possible in the automotive industry.
Responsibilities:
- Use a first-principles approach to create aerodynamically efficient designs
- Collaborate with Design and Vehicle Engineering to improve aerodynamic performance
- Work with designers to define products that balance aerodynamics and aesthetics
- Design and modify aerodynamic concepts in CAD
- Evaluate and refine designs using CFD and experimental methods
- Define and execute wind tunnel, road, and track test programs
- Optimize part execution for aerodynamics and resolve design conflicts
- Develop tools and methods used within the Aerodynamics team
Qualifications:
- BS degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in aerodynamic development
- 5+ years of experience using CFD and experimental testing
- 3+ years of experience creating and manipulating 3D surfaces in CAD
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's or PhD degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering
- Detailed technical knowledge of CFD fundamentals
- Experience with LLMs
- Ability to communicate complex aerodynamics concepts to cross-functional partners
- Track record of creating novel aerodynamic concepts
- Automotive or motorsport industry experience
