We are seeking a Senior Automation Engineer Robotics Software to join our team in Ankeny, Iowa. As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will build and configure robotics automation applications, investigate mechanical failures and unexpected maintenance problems, install, calibrate, operate and maintain robots, and develop technical documentation for application design.
Responsibilities:
- Build, configure, test, maintain and deploy robotics solutions for machine control, hardware automation, computer visioning, and machine learning
- Conduct research on robotic technology to create new robotic systems and system capabilities
- Troubleshoot and debug robotics software
- Mentor and train junior robotics engineers
- Develop software to communicate with PLC controlled machines and integrate machine hardware using OPC UA and Modbus
- Design and develop Python-based applications to integrate robotics and automation equipment with backend services and databases
- Implement monitoring and logging for automation and robotics systems
Requirements:
- Master's in Informatics, Computer Engineering, Robotics Engineering or closely-related quantitative field
- 3 years of experience in developing software to communicate with PLC controlled machines and integrate machine hardware using OPC UA and Modbus
- Experience with Python-based applications, multi-threading for machine automation and data management, and HMI applications for machine control and monitoring automation systems using Javascript, Vue and FastAPI
Benefits:
- Salary range: $115,000 to $144,000 per year
- Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission

Telecommuting is permitted up to 2 days per week from a home office location within a reasonable commuting distance of Ankeny, IA. Up to 35% US and international travel is required.
