Electronic Arts is seeking a Generalist Software Engineer to join the EA SPORTS™ FC team. As a Games Software Engineer, you will report to the team's Development Director and work on complex problems with Producers, Designers, Artists, and other Engineers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Working with Server and Client engineers to establish, hook up, and test end-to-end functionality
- Using and designing REST-based HTTP APIs
- Working with the game's UI tech stack
- Designing, implementing, testing, debugging, and maintaining code for game features or components
- Architecting and documenting technical designs for game technology and features
- Measurably improving process and best practices to achieve targets
- Collaborating within and across teams of technical and non-technical game developers, locally or remotely
To qualify, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent training and professional experience
- 5+ years of experience in software development and demonstrated good development practices
- A good grasp of the C++ programming language, best practices, and architectural considerations
- A good understanding of object-oriented design and online services (HTTP via REST)
- Good debugging skills and familiarity with network programming and memory management
- Familiarity with XML and JSON formats
- Experience with Visual Studio and source control systems
- Experience with Live Service Games is beneficial
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A good understanding of working with legacy code and legacy code risk mitigation
- Experience with Live games and/or commerce services is a plus
