Electronic Arts is seeking a Rendering Software Engineer to join the EA SPORTS NHL development team in Vancouver, British Columbia. The successful candidate will contribute to evolving the rendering engine to support expanding target environments, ensuring high visual quality and performance across diverse hardware.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and extend rendering systems to support core rendering pipelines, shading systems, and visual effects tools across expanding target hardware environments.
  • Work with graphics abstraction layers and pipelines to ensure the game scales smoothly across various hardware specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Technical Artists, Art Directors, Gameplay Engineers, and Core Engine teams.
  • Identify and address performance bottlenecks across GPU/CPU utilization, frame budgets, and memory usage.
  • Write clean, reliable, and well-tested C++ code, participating in code reviews, technical documentation, and team discussions.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience in real-time graphics or rendering programming within games or high-performance interactive applications.
  • Experience working with multi-platform rendering pipelines, hardware abstraction layers, or adaptable graphics codebases.
  • Working knowledge of C++ and object-oriented programming, paired with hands-on experience writing and modifying shaders in HLSL.
  • Familiarity with modern low-level graphics APIs (e.g., DirectX 12, Vulkan, or platform graphics interfaces).
  • Experience using graphics profilers and debuggers (e.g., PIX, RenderDoc, Nsight, or engine profilers) to diagnose issues.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Graphics Programming, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in utilizing AI-assisted development tools to rapid prototype, accelerate execution, and automate workflows.
