As VP of Product for Growth and Monetization, you'll lead Duolingo's largest product organization through a team of experienced pillar leads. Your teams shape how learners come back every day and why they choose to pay. You'll run one of the highest-velocity experimentation engines in consumer tech, with a mandate to grow Daily Active Users (DAUs) and revenue sustainably.
Responsibilities:
- Own DAUs and revenue, Duolingo's two hero metrics, and deliver both against forecast.
- Manage the pillar leads who run Growth and Monetization, an org of roughly 20 PMs and Duolingo's largest.
- Coach and develop senior product leaders, and raise the bar for product talent across the company.
- Partner with Engineering and Design leadership to make clear tradeoffs and ship quickly.
- Build world-class product operating mechanisms: Clear north star metrics, planning and review rituals, and rigorous A/B testing.
- Allocate resources across Growth and Monetization, balancing steady optimization with bigger swings.
- Be the single voice for Growth and Monetization at the executive level: progress, risks, and the plan to hit both numbers.
Requirements:
- Executive product leadership in consumer tech, with multi-year measurable impact on DAUs or revenue at scale.
- High judgment and operational rigor, with a record of hitting forecasts without sacrificing user experience.
- A track record of leading managers of managers and developing strong product leaders.
- Experience leading through change: reorgs, new operating models, faster execution.
- Cross-functional range, aligning Product, Engineering, Design, Data, and Marketing on clear priorities.
- Deep fluency in growth and monetization for freemium and subscription products, grounded in experimentation.
- Ability to work from or relocate to New York, NY or Pittsburgh, PA on a hybrid (4+1) schedule.
Exceptional candidates will have:
- Delivered stellar results growing a leading consumer app, whether in DAUs or revenue.
- Demonstrated success balancing user growth and revenue expansion without degrading core user experience in a mission-driven product.
- Experience communicating product strategy and results to executive and board-level audiences.
- Developed product leaders who've gone on to run product orgs of their own.
- Familiarity with ads, subscriptions, and in-app purchase ecosystems, including experimentation at scale across these surfaces.
The offered salary is dependent upon several factors, including work experience, skills, and internal peer comparisons. The posted range is $367,500-$612,500 USD, supplemented by equity compensation.
