The Electrical Field Services Engineer/Analyst provides technical services to fossil and hydroelectric generating facilities within the Southern Company. Responsibilities include problem resolution, routine testing, design review, checkout and startup of new equipment, technical consulting, and emergency callouts.

The position will support several generation sites in central Georgia, with occasional overnight travel required (approximately 25%).

Key qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Engineer) or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology (Analyst)
  • Customer-oriented work ethic
  • Broad general knowledge of power plant systems
  • Proficiency in excitation system calibration and problem resolution, low, medium, and high voltage switchgear concepts and designs, switchgear electrical control and applications, and protective relaying application and philosophy
  • Ability to communicate effectively with plant employees at all levels and manage multiple assignments simultaneously

The successful candidate will maintain technical proficiency, cultivate relationships within the plant, establish precedents for solving technical problems, and contribute to the development of new employees.
