Job Overview As a Product Development Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and releasing moveable glass systems that meet cost, quality, weight, and delivery targets. You will utilize concurrent engineering and thorough knowledge of DFMEA, DFM, DVP&R, CAE/FEA analytical tools, SCCAF, SC/CC, 8D, root cause analysis, product development, and testing.
Responsibilities
- Design and release moveable glass systems that meet or exceed cost, quality, weight, and delivery targets
- Develop Engineering Statement of Work (ESOW), Engineering Concepts (EC), and participate in the Sourcing Process
- Lead and support efforts to resolve issues with interfacing components
- Lead design reviews with suppliers to ensure System Design Specifications are created and met
- Lead FMA creation of engineering documentation, including DFMEA and SCCAF
- Sign off eCAD drawings with related Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT)
- Sign off on DVP&R tests and confirm compliance with System Design Specifications and materials specs
- Ensure Bill of Materials (BOM), cost targets, and design gaps have clearly defined roadmaps
- Release parts in FEDEBOM, Change Control, and WERS throughout the product life cycle
- Achieve DPA count to glidepath with 0 open at UPV2 through FDJ
- Achieve P-Release on time
- Complete FDJ/FEC/PEC with no open majors
- Deliver DCV, TT, PP, MPI, and MP2 build events on time
- Audit and update BOM with correct part levels and usage
- Support current production issues, cost reduction, and quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in automotive product development, with a strong focus on system engineering, requirements management, and/or quality methodologies
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related engineering field
- Proficient with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet, Catia v6/3DX / Team Center
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, material selection, and manufacturing processes relevant to moveable glass
- Proven understanding of quality tools and methodologies, such as DFMEA, DVP&R, 8D, and Root Cause Analysis
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills

Salary
- Salary grade 7-8: $86,600 – $166,200 per year
